Bike: Supreme Court order in relation to safety

New Delhi. Keeping in view road safety, the Supreme Court has made certain rules mandatory for bike riders. While ordering strict vigilance of Central Motor Vehicle Rule 123, the court has stayed the verdict given by the MP High Court in November 2018.

Now for safety of the rear sit on the bike, safety handles, foot rest and protective covers on the rear wheels should be compulsory. It is notable that the MPHC had heard petition of Gyanprakash, in the year 2008, that mandatory follow-up of Central Motor Vehicle Rule 123 would be done. This order of the MP High Court was challenged by the automobile makers in the Supreme Court. While hearing, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition of Bike manufacturers' organization Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers . During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Gnanprakash, a resident of Jabalpur, also put some facts in front of the court. The Jabalpur High Court ordered the same on Gnanaprakash's petition. Gnanaprakash said in the court that most automobiles have not been following the rules for nearly thirty years. This has increased the number of accidents from the bike. Many people have been victims of accidents due to not following safety standards for the rear sitter. After the order of the Supreme Court has come, the bike manufacturers will now have to follow the rules.
